Snow-covered banks and wooded bluffs frame the frozen St. Croix River at Taylor's Falls, Minnesota. Ice and patches of dark open water fill the channel, and a few buildings stand on the far shore. Taylor's Falls, now Taylors Falls, lies across the river from St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, near the Dalles of the St. Croix, a scenic stretch that drew tourists in the early 20th century.
