About this postcard

The Wolfe Monument stands as a tall stone column topped by a figure, set on a stepped base within a circular flower bed and low white wall. Mature trees and a pastel sky fill the park behind it. The column commemorates General James Wolfe, who died in the 1759 Battle of the Plains of Abraham, the British victory that led to the end of French rule in New France. The battlefield became a public park in Quebec City.
