The card shows a smiling woman in a pale blue jacket and pink skirt, holding a large hat filled with red roses, beside the verse "Happy are we met, / happy have we been, / happy may we part, / and happy meet again." The design is a general greeting postcard published by Theodor Eismann of New York and copyrighted in 1909.
Gladys, writing to her cousin Fred C. Ingham in Oxford, N.Y., notes that Blanche is "four a head" of her and that she has two more things to take tomorrow, turning the printed sentiment into an ordinary note between cousins.
