A group of women and children in long coats and hats gather in a snow-covered open field, several holding or seated on wooden sleds. Bare winter trees and a rail fence line the rolling ground behind them. The clothing and wooden sleds place the outing in the early twentieth century, when sledding on nearby slopes was a common winter pastime for families.
