A wooded, rocky shoreline curves into a broad lake, with low hills on the far horizon beneath a cloudy sky. The greeting names Iron River, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, a community tied to iron mining in the early twentieth century. The surrounding lakes and woods were part of the landscape of that mining district.

No postmark and no stamp present. Undivided back ("ADDRESS" only, no message/address divider). Pencil dealer notation at left ("5¢ E1E"), not correspondence. White-bordered card on cream matte stock; light soiling and corner wear.
