About this postcard
The card shows the Daytona Beach Bandshell, an open-air amphitheater whose great central arch is flanked by square towers with green pyramidal roofs, set behind hedges and beds of red flowers with a broad lawn in the foreground. Built in 1937 with Works Progress Administration labor and coquina stone from local quarries, it was promoted as the world's largest bandshell and anchored the city's oceanfront park improvements, hosting concerts and civic events. The structure still stands on the Boardwalk and remains in use for performances.
