The Lynchburg Y.M.C.A. main building fills the view, a large red brick structure with "Young Men's Christian Association" across its cornice. Beside it stands the smaller Boys' Branch, distinguished by a mansard roof, and an automobile is parked at the curb. The separate branch reflects the Y.M.C.A.'s youth work, which by the 1930s included clubs, athletics, and classes for boys.
