About this postcard

A monochrome drawing shows a small child's head, hair tousled, mouth stretched wide in a huge yawn, with a lit candle in a low candlestick beside it. Flowing copperplate-style calligraphy frames the figure with the printed caption 'Everybody is in Dreamland But You and I.' The handwritten message makes the joke explicit: 'If you dont go to bed early every night this is the way you will look much more.' Comic postcards of the early 1900s often used exaggerated faces to tease friends and family about late hours.
