The card pictures a tall yucca in full bloom, its dense cone of whitish flowers rising above a dark green hillside and low flowering shrubs, labeled "Yucca Palm or Spanish Dagger, California." Yuccas are native to the American Southwest and Mexico, and many species produce a single tall flower stalk after years of growth. "Spanish dagger" is a common name used for several large, stiff-leaved yuccas.
